Low volume, high intent: why industrial search is a different game
For most business-to-business companies in this province, search volume looks discouraging on paper. Terms like sheet metal slitting, CNC machining or packaging manufacturing are searched a few hundred times a month, not a few hundred thousand.
That number is misleading, because the person typing it is rarely browsing. More often they hold a purchasing budget and are looking for a supplier this quarter. Consumer search is a game of converting a small percentage of a large audience; this is the opposite. Catching five of a hundred searches can change what the year looks like.
The practical consequence is that we ignore broad, generic terms and go after the narrow technical phrasing that describes what you genuinely do. Competing for a two-word industry term against thousands of sites is a slow way to spend a budget. Matching the sentence a buyer types when they need your specific capability is a fast one.
