Web Design, Software and Digital Work in Izmir

For a large share of companies in Izmir, the person reading the website is not in Turkey. An exporter's site is not there to build local recognition; it is there to survive a foreign buyer's shortlist. That single difference decides which language the page speaks and which facts it has to carry.

Doing business in Izmir

Izmir's economy is hard to read without the port. The harbour infrastructure along the Alsancak and Aliağa line connects the province's output straight to foreign markets, which is why the real customer for many companies here is not domestic at all.

The most visible export sector is food and agriculture: olive oil, dried figs and sultanas, pulses, processed food and a fast-growing set of higher value products. Buyers in this field ask a very specific set of questions. Which certifications do you hold, which audits has the plant passed, what packaging formats exist, what is the minimum order quantity, can you send a sample. When those answers are missing from the site, the conversation turns into an email exchange and usually ends there.

The second sector is industry and logistics: production sites around Kemalpaşa and Çiğli, heavy industry at Aliağa, and the freight forwarding, customs clearance and warehousing companies attached to them. In logistics the digital need is different in kind. The problem is not promotion but operations, meaning visibility over where a shipment is and which document sits at which stage.

Third is hospitality. For businesses along the Çeşme, Alaçatı, Urla, Foça and Selçuk line the visitor arrives from elsewhere and a substantial share are foreign. There the website is a sales window rather than a catalogue, and image quality, availability and the shortness of the path to a booking feed straight into occupancy. Seasonality demands its own plan too: being visible before the season starts is worth more than being visible during it.

Fourth are renewable energy and the engineering firms around it. Companies providing maintenance, equipment and engineering services to wind and geothermal investments have to explain their technical qualifications to an international audience.

What these four have in common is that a single-language site serves none of them, and that translation is not a line item to leave until the end.
