Doing business in Ankara
What separates Ankara's economy from Turkey's other large provinces is how much of the demand is institutional. Ministries, directorates, regulators and large state enterprises sit here, and so do a large share of the companies that supply them. In that structure purchasing decisions are not made on personal preference; they are made against specifications, qualification criteria and documents.
The second pillar is defence and aerospace, together with the supply chain around it. A company in that chain has to satisfy traceability and confidentiality requirements in everything it hands to a prime contractor. Digitally that becomes a discipline about what a site does not say: some information is not published, some imagery cannot be used, and where enquiries are routed becomes a real question rather than a detail.
Third are the technology development zones around the major universities and the start-up scene attached to them. What those companies need is rarely a corporate brochure; it is the product itself, whether a panel, an application or a working prototype. Having something that genuinely runs matters more to an investor or a first institutional customer than a polished landing page.
Fourth is the dense small manufacturing cluster along the OSTİM and İvedik corridor: machinery, tooling, metalwork, equipment for construction machines, electrical panels. Many of these firms bid for public tenders and supply private industry at the same time, and the two audiences want different information.
Then there is the city's large private healthcare economy: hospitals, clinics, medical and dental centres. Communication there is not an open marketing field. Turkish rules on healthcare advertising limit directly what may be written, which imagery may be used and how patient feedback can be handled. A site built without knowing those limits does not merely underperform; it creates exposure.
We settle which of these five you belong to before design begins, because in Ankara a page aimed at the wrong audience is often not just ineffective but disqualified.
